Tapadum è nato negli anni tranquilli della pandemia. Con le sale da concerto chiuse, il nostro fondatore Ozgur Yalcin — compositore e frontman dell'ensemble turco Kara Gunes — si è allontanato dal palco e si è diretto verso il banco da lavoro. Ha viaggiato attraverso Turchia e Iran, trascorrendo mesi con liutai maestri in piccoli laboratori, e ha visto ciò che la maggior parte dei musicisti al di fuori del loro paese natale già sa: gli strumenti etnici ben fatti sono quasi impossibili da trovare. Troppo spesso, ciò che sembra un oud o un santur è decorativo — bello, ma ingiocabile. Due anni dopo, nel 2022, Tapadum ha aperto in Italia. Oggi il nostro showroom si trova a Villa Vezzano, un piccolo villaggio fuori Brisighella, mentre due laboratori a Izmir — uno per la percussione, uno per le corde — costruiscono strumenti per i musicisti che vogliono più dell'aspetto. Se non lo suoneremmo noi stessi, non lo vendiamo.
