Tapadum comenzó en los años tranquilos de la pandemia. Con las salas de conciertos cerradas, nuestro fundador Ozgur Yalcin — compositor y vocalista del conjunto turco Kara Gunes — se alejó del escenario y se dirigió al banco de trabajo. Viajó por Turquía e Irán, pasando meses con maestros lutieres en pequeños talleres, y vio lo que la mayoría de los músicos fuera de su país ya saben: los instrumentos étnicos bien hechos son casi imposibles de encontrar. Demasiadas veces, lo que parece un oud o un santur es decorativo — bonito, pero injugable. Dos años después, en 2022, Tapadum abrió en Italia. Hoy nuestro showroom se encuentra en Villa Vezzano, un pequeño pueblo cerca de Brisighella, mientras que dos talleres en Izmir — uno para percusión, otro para cuerdas — fabrican instrumentos para músicos que quieren más que apariencia. Si no lo tocaríamos nosotros mismos, no lo vendemos.
