Black Sea Kemenche

Characterized by its pear-shaped wooden body, usually crafted from materials like mulberry or plum, and featuring a flat or slightly rounded soundboard, the Black Sea Kemence (Karadeniz Kemencesi) is an instrument with a strong connection to the rich musical traditions and cultural identity of the Black Sea region.

Traditionally, this Kemence is equipped with three strings, traditionally made from horsehair, though contemporary versions may incorporate synthetic materials.
