Music Theory:
Major non-European musical traditions share a distinctive feature—their intricate system of modes, marked by elaborate melodic structures and nuanced microtonal elements. This complexity can pose challenges for musicians grounded in Euro-culture. Our Music Academy laboratory provides a platform to delve into the shared foundations of musical systems like Turkish-Ottoman Makam, Arabic Maqam, Persian Dastgah, and Hindustani raga. Through hands-on exercises, participants gain immediate familiarity with mode concepts and creatively reinterpret traditional materials. This workshop caters to instrumentalists and singers eager to explore “oriental music” deliberately, enhancing their improvisational and compositional language.
Whether you’re looking to expand your musical horizons, enrich your cultural understanding, or simply want to indulge your passion for traditional music, Tapadum Traditional Turkish Music Academy Online Lessons offer a unique and immersive experience.
