Seraj is a maker of the Persian daf and erbane — the wide, single-headed frame drum at the heart of Sufi, Persian, and Kurdish rhythm. Seraj instruments are built on lightweight wooden frames and ringed on the inside with rows of small nickel jingles, the shimmer that answers every stroke of the daf.

Where many traditional dafs use natural skin, Seraj is known for synthetic heads — from faux-leather skins that mimic the look and response of natural hide to professional Remo drumheads — giving players a tuning-stable, weather-resistant drum. The maker’s instruments, including its S10 line, circulate widely through international percussion retailers.

Tapadum carries Seraj within its Persian and Kurdish frame-drum collection, chosen for ring response, head quality, and the easy, balanced feel of a light frame.
