Made for the Turkish Oud

The sets are made for the Turkish oud. The Arabic oud uses a different tuning and usually a longer scale, so for an Arabic oud choose a string set made for it. Each set arrives in Kurschner’s printed box, ready to fit on a Turkish oud from our oud collection or on your own instrument.

Why Three Sets

Oud strings age together, so most players change a complete set at once to keep every course sounding even. With three sets in the pack, you can restring when the tone turns dull and still have a spare set for a string that breaks before a lesson or a concert.

Care

Wipe the strings with a dry cloth after playing to remove sweat and dust. New strings stretch, so expect to retune often in the first days. Change the strings one course at a time, so the tension on the soundboard stays even, and keep the spare sets dry in their box until you need them.

Are these strings for a Turkish or an Arabic oud?

They are made for the Turkish oud. The Arabic oud uses a different tuning and usually a longer scale, so it needs a string set made for it. If you are not sure which type of oud you have, send us a photo and its string length and we will advise you.

What does "x 3 Pcs" mean?

The pack contains three complete Kurschner oud string sets, not three single strings. You can fit one set now and keep two as spares, ready for a full restring or for a string that breaks before a lesson or a concert.

How often should I change oud strings?
