Dastan is a maker of the Persian daf, the large single-headed frame drum at the heart of Sufi ceremony and Persian and Kurdish music. Each Dastan daf pairs a wide wooden frame with a synthetic head and rows of small metal rings fixed to the inner rim — the shimmer that answers every stroke.

Synthetic-head dafs are valued for their stability: the head holds its tuning through changes in humidity and temperature, needs no warming before playing, and stands up to travel and outdoor performance. Tapadum carries Dastan within its Persian and Kurdish frame-drum collection, chosen for ring response, head quality, and balanced feel.
