Modal Music Workshop with Peppe Frana: New Year at the Store
On January 7, 2024, Peppe Frana returned to Tapadum Ethnic Music Store for a workshop on Eastern modal systems, alongside a parallel daf workshop and an evening concert.
Peppe Frana returned to Tapadum on January 7, 2024 — this time at our Ethnic Music Store in Brisighella rather than the old home concert space — for another round of his workshop on modal music: the shared foundations of the Turkish-Ottoman makam, the Arabic maqam, the Persian dastgah, and the Hindustani raga, and the practical exercises that open the door to improvising within them.
The workshop ran alongside a parallel session on Persian daf led by Masih Karimi, with both feeding into the evening’s concert by the Trio Karimi Frana Montanari at Bertoni Bottega e Cucina in Castel Bolognese.
