Ahmet Tashomcu
Ahmet Tashomcu is a master potter from Menemen, near İzmir — a two-time World Pottery Champion recognised as a Living Human Treasure of Turkey. His material is clay and his craft is the ceramic shell: the resonant earthenware body that gives a hand-thrown drum its warm, focused voice.
Under his own name, this collection brings together Ahmet Tashomcu’s ceramic Udu drums — clay percussion instruments thrown on the wheel and fired in the Menemen pottery tradition. (The clay shells he throws for Tapadum’s collaborative darbukas are listed under the Tapadum brand.) Each piece is checked for tone, finish, and structural integrity before it ships from our Brisighella, Italy showroom.
