Pasticcio Meticcio: Balkan Dance and Music at Tapadum
Pasticcio Meticcio brought Balkan dance and the OrientiAccidenti repertoire to Tapadum on August 8, 2024, with an optional introductory dance workshop before the concert.
“Hajde!” — a word shared across the Levant, from the Western Balkans to the Middle East, roughly meaning “come on” or “let’s go,” used to invite an audience to dance. It set the tone for Pasticcio Meticcio’s concert at Tapadum on August 8, 2024, retracing the eastward musical journey of OrientiAccidenti, with a section devoted to their album “A’ ruga: ricongiungimenti musicali tra Albania e Arberia,” whose 2020 release had been delayed.
Alongside the concert, the group — Marco Tosto on Cretan lyra and percussion, Anna Vovk on voice, Filippo Cantarella on viola, Alessia Squillace on clarinet, and Marco Monfregola on violin — offered an introductory workshop on traditional dances from Greece (mandilatos), Hungary (lakodalmi), Romania (hora mare), and Albania (naploni), led by anthropologist and dance therapist Silvia Della Scala, open to all regardless of prior dance experience.
Nine people came, with seventy more following along online.
