Hamid
Setar Maker
Maker of the Persian setar — a handcrafted long-necked lute with a mulberry bowl set with mother-of-pearl inlay, an aged mulberry soundboard, and a walnut neck, known for its warm, resonant tone.
Hamid is a maker of the Persian setar — the long-necked lute at the centre of Iranian classical and folk repertoire. His setars pair a mulberry-wood bowl, set with mother-of-pearl inlay along the seams, with an aged mulberry soundboard and a neck of aged walnut — a combination tuned for a balanced voice, clear in the high register and rich through the mids.
Hamid setars are carried by Tapadum within its Persian-classical collection, supplied with a hard case for travel and storage — an inlaid, decorative instrument built within the same gut-fretted, microtonal tradition as the rest of the setar family.
