The Handpan Case Tortoise – Safety Bag is Tapadum’s upper-tier handpan tortoise case — a hard-shell protective case for players who want rigid security without giving up the comfort of a backpack. Built around a molded tortoise-shell exterior, it raises the protection of our standard handpan safety bag a clear step while staying light enough for daily carry to rehearsals, sessions, and the road.
The outer shell is a rigid molded body pressed into a segmented tortoise-shell relief. The raised panels are not only decorative — they add structural stiffness and spread impact across the surface instead of letting it reach the instrument. The finish is shockproof and weather-resistant, shrugging off knocks, light rain, and the scuffs of travel that a soft gig bag cannot. It sits naturally between our padded entry-level bag and the fully rigid hard cargo case, giving you firm, confident protection in an everyday format.
Inside, a layer of pressure-distributing padding cradles the handpan and holds it centered, keeping the tuned tone fields and central doum away from the shell wall. The case closes with a full-perimeter zip and carries the instrument on integrated backpack straps, leaving both hands free on stairs, public transport, and uneven ground.
