Description

The Handpan Case – Safety Bag is a handpan case with a molded EVA shell and backpack straps, made for a standard-size handpan. It suits players who carry their instrument to lessons, rehearsals and outdoor sessions and want a firm, shaped shell rather than a soft fabric bag. Its outer dimensions are 61 × 61 × 32 cm.

Molded EVA Shell

The shell is pressed from EVA foam into a domed form with raised radial ribs, finished in a speckled green. EVA is a dense foam that keeps its shape and absorbs the energy of a knock instead of passing it to the steel. The case is shockproof and weather-resistant, so a bump against a door frame or a shower on the way to a session is taken by the shell, not by the tone fields of the handpan.

Interior and Carrying

The case closes with a full-perimeter zip and opens like a clamshell. Inside, the black lid is lined with rows of raised cushioning studs that rest against the top of the instrument and keep it away from the shell wall. On the back, two padded backpack straps with adjustable buckles leave both hands free; a top handle covers short distances, and a second handle sits at the base.

Care

Wipe the shell with a damp cloth and let the case dry fully, open, before you store the instrument inside. Keep the interior free of sand and grit, which can scratch the finish of a handpan. If your instrument is larger than standard or has an unusual height, send us its diameter and height before ordering and we will confirm whether it fits. The handpan shown in the photos is not included with the case.

How do I carry the Safety Bag?

On the back you have two padded backpack straps with adjustable buckles, which leave both hands free on stairs, bicycles and public transport. A top handle covers short distances, and a second handle at the base helps when you lift the case into a car or set it down.

Is the Safety Bag suitable for flights?

The Safety Bag is made for daily carry: on foot, by car and on public transport. For checked airline luggage we recommend our Hard Case for Handpan – Cargo Case, which has a reinforced fiberglass shell and a locking system. If you fly with the Safety Bag as cabin baggage, check your airline's size limits first, as the case measures 61 × 61 × 32 cm.
