Description
The blue-grey mandala steel tongue drum sets a fine etched mandala against a cool blue-grey face. This 8-note steel tongue drum is tuned in D Kurd (D minor) — the gentle, meditative scale at the heart of the handpan world — in a calm, muted colourway that suits any room.
Materials & body
The shell is cut from resonant steel in a cool blue-grey finish under a protective coating, so the surface keeps its look with very little care. The mandala is etched into the metal itself — never a sticker or print — so it will not peel or fade with playing.
The tongues & tuning
Eight tuned tongues are cut into the playing surface and voiced in D Kurd (D minor), a forgiving scale with no “wrong” notes — ideal for beginners. The eight-note layout is simple to learn and easy to carry. Played with the mallets or bare fingers, each tongue gives a clean, sustained tone.
Mandala & symbolism
A mandala is a symmetrical pattern that draws the eye inward to its centre — used for centuries as a focus for meditation and balance. The cool blue-grey finish gives it a calm, understated feel. Browse the other tongue drums for more colours and patterns.
